Josh Hawkins appeared in a reserve role in four games last year after redshirting the 2007 season. He recorded appearances against Northern Illinois, Georgia, Mississippi State and Kentucky. In the junior varsity game against Hargrave Military Academy, he started and recorded five tackles. In high school, Hawkins was an outstanding runningback, starting all four years at that position. On the defensive side of the ball, he played defensive back.
