We made the drive this afternoon from the Cumberland Mountains to a whole ‘nuther kind of mountains, the eastern slopes of the Appalachians, for tomorrow’s wedding of one of the Garrett clan in Franklin, NC.

It’s a 4-hour drive (allowing an extra 10 minutes to get by an accident on I-40 at the state line and 10 more for relying on my uncle Larry’s directions to the motel) from Oneida to Franklin. We could’ve made it a one-day adventure, but it isn’t every day that we have the opportunity to visit our neighbors in western N.C.

Besides, the father of the groom promised us some good BBQ at tonight’s rehearsal dinner.
