$18 million for a website? Yes, that’s $18,000,000.00. And it’s what the federal government is paying for the redesign of Recovery.Gov. Notice I said “redesign.” As you know if you’ve visited that bastion of transparency, Recovery.Gov is already up and running smoothly, but it’s apparently not good enough for someone, and so $18 million is being spent to redesign it.

Wow. I mean, WOW. To say that’s the most expensive website in the short history of Al Gore’s Internet is a colossal understatement. We’re in the middle of the worst recession since the early ’80s, and arguably the worst since the Depression, and we’re spending 18 million taxpayer dollars on a freakin’ government website?!? Hello, people. If we can’t get outraged about spending more than $1 trillion in recovery efforts, can we at least agree that $18 million for a website tracking the $1 trillion is outrageous?

Spending $1 million for a website would’ve been outrageous. Let alone 18 of them.

They should’ve called me. I could’ve saved us a lot of money. I would’ve gladly done it for $50k or so.

Sheesh.

UPDATE: Well, we should’ve known. Hot Air has the scoop on how the chosen firm is politically connected.
