Winfield Fire Department has been dispatched to southern Kentucky this morning to provide “mutual aid” assistance to Pine Knot Fire Department on a large structure fire near Strunk, Ky.
South Scott Fire Department has been dispatched to provide assistance with the extrication of an accident victims deep in the woods of the Sheep Ranch community. Firefighters are securing a landing zone for air evac at S.R. 52 in Elgin.
UPDATE 11:46 am: Lifestar air evac has been dispatched to Sheep Ranch for the ATV accident victim. A landing zone is being set up in the Sheep Ranch community rather than at Elgin. Medics have reached the victim and are in the process of moving him to a waiting ambulance for transport to the landing zone, which will apparently be in an open field at the Sheep Ranch-Gum Branch split.
UPDATE II 12:06 pm: Initial information I received from Sheep Ranch was incorrect. The victim, a 38-year-old male, was not an ATV accident victim; instead, he fell from a tree. One would assume he was hanging a tree stand for tomorrow’s deer season opener.
