Columnist Dan Wetzel lashes out at Florida, saying its two quarter suspension of Brandon Spikes doesn’t fit the crime:
That penalty isn’t a joke, although the man dishing it out is acting like one . . .
Florida just acted in its best football interests. One of its team captains went after an opposing player with the dirtiest of plays.
He’ll sit out a half.
It’s all about blind ambition in Gainesville.
UPDATE: Rumor has it that Tennessee freshman receiver Nu’Keese Richardson will be suspended for a game after failing to show up for practice yesterday. As seen on a UT messageboard: “Richardson acts childish, gets suspended for a game. Spikes tries to maim a guy, gets suspended for a half.”

Well if I was the coach this guy would never play for me again.
But a lot of the scholarship players on college teams are nothing but punks with no morals. This guy deliberately tries to blind someone and you suspend him for half a game? Amazing. Urban Myers proves once again what a “class act” he is.
I hate him. And it isn’t the the type of “hate” I had for Spurrier when he was at Florida. I loved to hate Spurrier - it was fun when he was there. And he beat TN several years straight. But the fact that FL has beat TN so much under Myers has nothing to do with why I hate him. I think he is a despicable person based on what I have seen from him on the sidelines and how he runs the score up on opponents, etc etc.
I had a lot of respect for Spurrier which I suppose is why it was fun hating him. I have zero respect for Myers and am just hoping he gets an offer from Notre Dame and takes it so the SEC will be rid of him.
